We are seeking Lead Direct Support staff to assist individuals with disabilities in a group home setting. You will help to lead the other direct care staff on how to complete tasks and ensure proper care of individuals.
This Lead Direct Support Professional is located in Branford, CT
SARAH SENECA Residential Services is a not for profit agency that supports individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities in residential settings along the shoreline.
The lead direct support professional will be the medical liaison for the group home. This consists of scheduling doctor appointments, medical follow-up, ordering medications and medical supplies, and working closely with the nurse.
Assist the Program Manager with the staff schedule and recreation calendar.
The Lead Staff position will carry greater responsibility and be a resource for other staff. Assist in training new hires.
Train new staff on how to assist individuals with personal care, complete medical appointments, finance oversite, and all other aspects of the group home.
Grocery shopping and ensuring the house has all needed supplies.
Will be responsible for Checks and balances in the group home such as checking documentation for accuracy and completion and ensuring shift responsibilities are being completed.
The schedule for this position is: Tues- Fri 2p-8p and Sat 9:30a- 5:30p
(May require being on-call when the manager is away)
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver's license with clean driving record
- Must have current DDS Medication Certification
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Demonstrate at least one year of previous experience working with intellectual disabilities in a residential setting.
- DDS Medication Certification must be valid and current at time of application.
- Working knowledge of ADL skills. (i.e. banking, food preparation, housekeeping, personal care, money management, etc.)
- Experience supervising or training other staff a plus
